This page describes the steps involved in obtaining the HEXACO-PI-R for non-academic purposes.
"Non-academic" purposes are those other than non-profit research or teaching, and include personnel selection and development, counselling, and clinical assessment, among others.
User Qualifications: Users of the HEXACO-PI-R must have graduate training in psychology or a related field (education, counselling, management, etc.) and have completed a graduate-level course in psychological testing or measurement.
Available forms: The three different versions of the English-language version of the inventory are described below. Each of them is available in self-report and in observer report form. For information about other language versions of the inventory, contact us at hexacopir@gmail.com.
1. HEXACO-60: The 60-item HEXACO-PI-R is intended mainly for assessing the six HEXACO factors, but can also provide scores on very brief scales for 24 of the 25 facet-level variables. Time required (upper bound): 12 – 15 minutes.
2. HEXACO-100: The 100-item HEXACO-PI-R is intended mainly for assessing the six HEXACO factors, but can also provide scores on brief scales for the 25 facets. Time required (upper bound): 20 – 25 minutes.
3. HEXACO-200: The 200-item HEXACO-PI-R is intended mainly for assessing the six HEXACO factors, but can also provide scores on full-length scales for the 25 facets. Time required (upper bound): 40 – 50 minutes.
Royalty/License Fee: The royality/license fee for one administration of the inventory is (Canadian) $2, and the minimum purchase of the inventory is 50 administrations (C$100). The fee is the same for each version of the inventory.
After Payment: Upon receipt of your payment, we will send you an invoice confirming the approved number of copies, along with an electronic copy of the three versions of the inventory and their answer keys.
1. If you will administer the inventory in a paper-and-pencil format, you will then produce the approved number of copies of the inventory and its answer sheet.
2. If you will administer the inventory in an on-line format, you will then allow the approved number of on-line administrations.
You will be responsible for scoring and interpretation of the inventory. As noted above, we will provide the scoring keys; in addition, scale descriptions are provided on the website, http://hexaco.org.
